What is HCG?
Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a hormone that naturally occurs in the body and is produced during pregnancy in order to meet the caloric needs of the fetus. It allows the body to mobilize fat and make it readily available to use as energy for both the mother and baby.
How does HCG assist weight loss?
While undergoing the HCG weight loss program, you’ll adhere to the HCG 2.0 diet, a complete, balanced system that allows you to shed abnormal fat without altering your metabolism.
HCG 2.0 focuses on the macronutrients required by each individual and enhances weight loss while simultaneously allowing patients to eat more calories. Most patients report that they do not feel hungry, rather they feel more alive and full of energy. This is because the body is receiving up to 2,000 calories of stored energy each day.
When food is not available, HCG prompts your body to utilize your abnormal fat stores for energy. Following the HCG 2.0 diet, in conjunction with HCG, allows patients to maintain constant caloric homeostasis by using fat as an energy source as opposed to food.
Some Benefits of HCG Therapy Are:
- Reduced Appetite
- Increased Energy
- Improved Sense of Wellness
- Maintenance of Lean Muscle Tissue
- Improved Skin Elasticity
There are 3 types of fat in the body: structural, normal and abnormal.
Structural fat is needed for survival and does not contribute to obesity. Structural fat is the type of fat that surrounds our vital organs and keeps our skin smooth and taut.
Normal fat is what our bodies use for fuel when needed. Normal fat does not contribute to obesity.
Abnormal fat is just that – ABNORMAL. Abnormal fat is the type of fat that accumulates in the areas where we least desire it to be – this includes our hips, buttocks, stomach, arms, etc. With severe calorie restriction, the body will burn up normal fat reserves, then structural fat, burning abnormal fat last. This is typically the point where moat give up on their diet. HCG allows you to lose abnormal fat without losing lean muscle. The result is a thinner, firmer and tighter YOU!
Q: Is HCG safe?
A: HCG is considered to be very safe and has been used in weight loss for over 60 years. Prior to starting the program, our healthcare provider will meet with you to determine whether HCG is the right choice for you.
Q: Is HCG safe for men?
A: Yes. HCG is not a sex hormone and therefore does not have additional side effects for men.
Q: If HCG helps with weight loss, why don’t pregnant women lose weight?
A: HCG mobilizes fat for the body to use ONLY when there is a decrease in calories and fat. A very low diet accompanied by HCG rids the body of abnormal fat stores.
Q: How much weight can I expect to lose?
A: Weight loss depends on many factors. However, most patients will lose approximately 15-20 pounds in a 30-40 day cycle.
Q: Will I gain the weight back when I stop HCG?
A: It is very important to walk through the steps to reset your hypothalamus when you take your last dose of HCG. Stay on the low-calorie diet for 3 days after you finish. Over the next 3 weeks, do not eat any processed sugar or simple carbs. Weigh daily and if you go past 2 pounds above your stop weight, skip breakfast and lunch. Drink plenty of water and for dinner eat 1 lean cut steak with an apple or raw tomato. The following day return back to your normal diet.
Q: What are the side effects?
A: Side effects are rare, and usually are not severe. But you might experience: headaches (especially in the first few days of the protocol. This is caused by the release of toxins from the stored fat which is being burned), leg cramps, fatigue, and hunger.
Q: Will I experience any changes in my menstrual cycle?
A: The prescribed dosage of HCG is so small that you should not experience any changes in menstruation. However, some women report variations in menstrual cycles such as lighter or heavier flow. We recommend that if you are on birth control or using other methods for pregnancy prevention that you exercise caution as you will not be able to use a urine pregnancy test. The reason being is that it will be positive whether you are pregnant or not.
Q: What if I accidentally miss a dose?
A: You will be fine. Just resume as soon as possible. DO NOT DOUBLE UP ON DOSES.
Q: Will HCG interfere with my current medications?
A: HCG does not have any stated drug interactions, however, providing an accurate list of your medications prior to starting the program is vital for the healthcare provider to review and make suggestions if necessary. For example, patients who are on diabetes medications will likely need a reduction in their diabetic medications due to the very restricted diet.
Q: If I haven’t lost my desired amount of weight, may I repeat Phase 1 and Phase 2?
A: You are able to repeat Phases 1&2 as many times as you need in order for you to reach your goals. However, you do have to wait between rounds as follows:
Round 1: 6 weeks
Round 2: 8 weeks
Round 3: 10 weeks
Round 4: 12 weeks
A year from now you will be glad you started today!
